Nice to finally meet you!

Alexander Michael Hoemann is finally here!  He was born February 6th at 11:58pm - funny how close he was to having an entirely different birth date.  These first hours and days with him have been absolutely wonderful. In the final days leading up to his birth, I was thinking about how long it seems since I held or took care of a baby. I was slightly nervous about not knowing what to do and having to learn it all over again. It really is amazing how much comes back to you once you're holding your new baby. Bart and I have commented to each other how we feel much more confident and relaxed this time, even though it's been a little while since we did this.

Alexander's big sister Isabelle came to visit yesterday. She was very excited during my pregnancy, hugging my belly and saying "hi, baby brudder". She would tell me that she wanted to hug him and kiss him. So cute.  Isabelle was slightly hesitant, but then happy to see us when she walked through the door of our hospital room. I immediately asked her to snuggle with me, so she knew that I missed her. I missed her so much! It felt weird to be away from her through all of this since she has become my little sidekick. She had the biggest smile on her face when we introduced her to her baby brother. She wanted to hold him, so we set her in a chair and put him in her lap. Like me, she wanted to check out all of his little features...but she was mostly interested in his feet. His "toesies".  I can tell she will be a terrific big sister!
